Cabinet gives six directives ahead of critical 2023

The cabinet in its weekly meeting on Monday gave half a dozen directives aiming at overcoming the critical period in the next year.

The directives include relaxation of source at tax on import of food items, grow more food and sending skilled manpower, cabinet secretary Khandker  Anwarul Islam told reporters at a briefing at secretariat.

He also said  that the cabinet meeting presided over by prime minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban also directed ensuring more flow of foreign direct investment as well as remittance.

Maintaining adequate food storage ahead of the new calendar year was the other directive from the cabinet meeting.

Reviewing the global trends and happenings, the cabinet said that the upcoming year will be critical one because of hikes in interest rate by the US Fed, the war in Ukraine and slump in production in China.
